Overview

Users can create Assets using two different methods, bulk or individually.

Individual Asset Creation

Users can create an Asset by navigating to the Assets (Tags) page within a Location, Company, or Organization.

The form has two fields:

  • ID: This is the ID of the Asset that will be used as the Asset name. This is required.

  • Notes: This is a description or any relevant notes related to the Asset that the user would like to be visible in the UI.

Bulk Asset Creation

Users can also bulk create Assets. To do this, select the “Bulk Create Assets” action instead of “Create Asset.”

Step 1: Preparing the CSV for Upload

This action will open up a menu. The best path forward is to download the template before uploading the csv.

The CSV has the same two fields as individual create form: ID and Notes.

Example CSV:

Step 2: Uploading the CSV

Once the file is prepared, the user can upload the file from their computer and hit next.

Regardless of which CSV option a user chooses, once they upload the CSV, they will be prompted to map all of the CSV columns to Asset attributes in the system. This ensures all Assets data is correctly setup. If the CSV template is used, the columns will automatically be mapped because they utilize the expected column titles.

While the upload is in progress, please do not close the tab. The user will be able to track the progress in the loading screen.

Once all the assets are uploaded you will be able to see a summary. If any errors were detected they will be listed and the user can download an error csv report. Reasons a Assets may have not been able to be created include:

  • Invalid fields: If the value does not match the type (eg: if the value in the csv contains letters and the attribute is of type number)

  • Missing fields: If that row of the csv was missing one of the required fields
